Adoptee Mentoring Society
Adoptee Mentoring Society (AMS) is a nonprofit founded by Angela Tucker to create affirming, healing-centered spaces for adopted individuals. Rooted in her own experience as a transracial adoptee and propelled by the impact of her documentary Closure, Angela launched AMS in response to the widespread need for connection, guidance, and community among adoptees. Today, AMS supports adoptees of all backgrounds through mentorship, storytelling, and identity-affirming programs that foster empowerment, belonging, and holistic wellbeing.
Objectives & Challenges
Redesigning for a Clearer, More Welcoming User Experience – The original AMS website needed a full redesign to better reflect the organization’s inclusive mission and create a more welcoming experience for adoptees seeking virtual mentorship. We worked to reorganize and restructure site content to clearly communicate AMS’s growth, programs, and evolving community needs.
Elevating Visual Identity Through Design – A key challenge was to create a visually engaging site that captured AMS’s bold personality while maintaining consistency with their existing brand identity. This meant refining the color palette, typography, and layout to deliver a cohesive and energetic experience aligned with the organization’s values.
Custom Features and Mobile Optimization – To ensure functionality and performance across all devices, we implemented custom CSS and lightweight features that enhanced both aesthetics and usability. Mobile responsiveness was a top priority, with a focus on optimizing layouts and navigation for users accessing the site on phones and tablets.

Branded Visual Integration – We incorporated original visuals from AMS’s designer. This including custom iconography and background artwork to infuse the site with vibrancy and authenticity, while reinforcing the organization’s unique brand identity.
